Gatlinburg to Cades Cove Scenic Drive

One of the most enjoyed and scenic drives in the Smokies is the 30-mile trip from the Gatlinburg Sugarlands Visitor Center to Cades Cove in Townsend along Little River Road.

Little River Road consists of tight twists along the Little River, with plenty of pulloffs so that you can really take it all in. Enjoy the slow drive and all the opportunities this route affords with beautiful scenery, many opportunities to put your feet in the water, take a few pictures, and enjoy the quiet.

Notable spots along the Little River include Meigs Falls, Metcalf Bottoms perfect for picnics and wading, and the rapid Little River Gorge.

You don’t want to be in a hurry if you’re taking this drive as there are no places to pass and everyone on the road with you is soaking it all in. You should probably plan on 1-1.5 hours drive time with more time to stop in between. Might as well fill up the tank, pack a few snacks and water shoes, and make it a day trip!
